I.B. Scientific began as a chemistry research company contracting with Environment Canada to perform oil spill clean-up research in 1991. Several years later the interests of the company founder, Dr. Bier, turned towards natural medicine research . After gaining experience working as a research associate at the Bastyr University Research Institute and as Director of the Southwest College Research Institute, he reestablished the company in October 1998 focused on natural medicine research. Since that time I.B. Scientific has been awarded industry and government grants, and has several peer-reviewed publications.

President - Ian D. Bier, N.D., Ph.D., L.Ac.

Dr. Bier is a naturopathic physician and a licensed acupuncturist. He began his undergraduate work in Chemistry with a specialization in Biochemistry at the Institute for Cooperative Education at Concordia University in Montreal, Canada, before transferring to Bastyr University in Seattle, WA, where he earned a Masters of Science in Acupuncture and a Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine. He completed a residency in Family Practice at Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine & Health Sciences in Phoenix, AZ. He obtained his Ph.D. in Human Services with a focus on Therapeutic Nutrition at Capella University in Minneapolis, MN.

Dr. Bier has worked at the Bastyr University Research Institute, and was an Associate Professor of Research at Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine & Health Sciences. Under his directorship the Southwest College Research Institute, evolved from one research project to an Institute with successful national and international industry, and government research grants. He has been a Board member of the Society for Acupuncture Research, a Member of the International Editorial Advisory Board for the journal Clinical Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and served on the research committee of the House of Delegates of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians. He has also served as a peer reviewer for the Journal of Naturopathic Medicine, the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine, and as a grant reviewer for the National Center of Complementary and Alternative Medicine of the United States National Institutes of Health.

He is currently in private practice at Human Nature Natural Health in Portsmouth, NH.

Director of Administration- Paula M. Diamond, M.Ed.

Ms. Diamond brings experience in the medical publishing field to the company. As an assistant editor at Medicopea International she was responsible for overseeing the editing process of raw manuscripts to those ready for publication. She was responsible for assigning authors topics to research and write for the journal Ophthalmic Practice, Canada's leading ophthalmic journal. As founding Coordinating Editor of the Southwest College Press, she was responsible for every aspect of production for two annual Anthologies of Naturopathic Medicine and co-edited several medical textbooks for the press.
